PUT ON CHRIST
Rom 13:14, But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in
regard to its lusts.
Gal 3:27-29, For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with
Christ. {28} There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is
neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. {29} And if you belong to
Christ, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.
John 14:6, Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one
comes to the Father, but through Me.
Eph 6:10-17, Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might. {11}
Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of
the devil. {12} For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers,
against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual
forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. {13} Therefore, take up the full armor of
God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand
firm. {14} Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON
THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, {15} and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF
THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; {16} in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you
will be able to extinguish all the flaming missiles of the evil one. {17} And take THE
HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
JESUS IS OUR: · Way
Officer Peter O'Hanlon was patrolling on night duty in northern England some years ago
when he heard a quivering sob. Turning in the direction that it came from, he saw in the
shadows a little boy sitting on a doorstep. With tears rolling down his cheeks, the child
whimpered, "I'm lost. Take me home." The policeman began naming street after
street, trying to help him remember where he lived. When that failed, he repeated the
names of the shops and hotels in the area, but all without success. Then he remembered
that in the center of the city was a well-known church with a large white cross towering
high above the surrounding landscape. He pointed to it and said, "Do you live
anywhere near that?" The boy's face immediately brightened. "Yes, take me to the
cross. I can find my way home from there!"
- All the great injustices of history have been committed in the name of unchecked and
unbridled "majority rule." The late Senator James A. Reed, of Missouri, in one
of the most forceful speeches ever delivered before the Senate, observed with great truth:
"The majority crucified Jesus Christ; the majority burned the Christians at the
stake; the majority established slavery; the majority jeered when Columbus said the world
was round; the majority threw him into a dungeon for having discovered a new world; the
majority cut off the ears of John Pym because he dared advocate the liberty of the
press." Christ always calls us to follow the lifestyle of the "Minority
opinion." There is no "majority morality" in this world.
THE WAY IS TO BE LIKE JESUS
ROM 8:28, "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to
those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He
foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might
be the first-born among many brethren;"
MIND
Rom 12:1, I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your
bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of
worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of
your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable
and perfect.
ATTITUDE
What kind of an attitude do you have? Many think it doesn't matter. They seem to be
content to go through life with a depressing, negative attitude. But what does the Bible
teach?
PHI 2:3, "Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind
let each of you regard one another as more important than himself; 4 do not merely look
out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. 5 Have this
attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus," 6 who, although He existed in
the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied
Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 And
being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point
of death, even death on a cross.
It does matter. What is an attitude? Your attitude is one of the ways you communicate
your mood to others. Think of attitude as your mental focus on the world. Like using a
camera, you can focus or set your mind on what appeals to you. You can see situations as
either opportunities or failures. You can concentrate on selected aspects of your
environment and ignore others. Quite simply, you take the picture of life you want to
take.
LOVE
John 15:11, "These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and
that your joy may be made full. 12 "This is My commandment, that you love one
another, just as I have loved you. 13 "Greater love has no one than this, that one
lay down his life for his friends.
Truth and Wisdom
Prov 3:5, Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And do not lean on your own
understanding.
We must love the truth more than we love being right. Pride gets in the way of the
truth.
2 Th 2:10-12, and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because
they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. {11} And for this reason God
will send upon them a deluding influence so that they might believe what is false, {12} in
order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in
wickedness.
If we have no desire to boast, we have no desire to argue. One who argues is seeking
the agreement of man. He is not satisfied with the approval of God.
Eph 2:8-9, For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves,
it is the gift of God; {9} not as a result of works, that no one should boast.
Life
WE MUST ABIDE IN JESUS
JOHN 15:4-6, "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of
itself, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the
vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for
apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a
branch, and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are
burned."
1 Tim 6:13-16, I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and
of Christ Jesus, who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate, {14} that you
keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus
Christ, {15} which He will bring about at the proper time-- He who is the blessed and only
Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords; {16} who alone possesses immortality and
dwells in unapproachable light; whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and
eternal dominion! Amen.
RIGHTEOUSNESS
Phil 3:8-11, More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing
value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things,
and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Christ, {9} and may be found in Him,
not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith
in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, {10} that I may
know Him, and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being
conformed to His death; {11} in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
GOSPEL OF PEACE - CHRIST IS OUR PEACE
God has enabled the believer to experience peace regardless of the outward
circumstances. Peace is a gift from God through our relationship with Christ. Jesus said
to His troubled disciples.
John 14:27, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth,
give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Christ is our peace. When you have Him you have peace.
Eph 2:13, But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the
blood of Christ. 14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the
middle wall of partition between us; 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the
law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man,
so making peace; 16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross,
having slain the enmity thereby: 17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar
off, and to them that were nigh.
Focus your attention on the Lord rather than on your circumstances. The more you focus
on your problems the larger and more insurmountable they seem. God promises to keep in
perfect peace those whose minds are fixed on Him and believing in Him.
Shield of Faith
Psa 18:30, As for God, His way is blameless; The word of the LORD is tried; He is a
shield to all who take refuge in Him.
HELMET OF SALVATION
Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
John 1:14, And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory,
glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
