PEACE

Living in dependence upon God, you will have peace.

Peace is more than absence of conflict. It is inner quietness, deep stillness in the soul, serenity of the spirit, a state of order, harmony, and wholeness. A peaceful individual lives in the midst of conflict without inner turmoil and anxiety. Peace does not depend on outward circumstances but on an inner relationship.

Peace with God, Self, and Others

In order to experience real peace you must have peace with God, with yourself, and with others. Conflict in any one of these areas shatters your peace.

Living in dependence upon God, you will have peace. God says

Isa 57:21, There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

Where there is willful sin, there is no peace. Because God loves you He has made provision for all of your sin with His blood. He made it possible for you to have peace with him. Your acceptance of His Son as your personal Savior reconciles you to God, makes you at peace with Him.

Rom 5:1, Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Regarding peace with others, we cannot always control how people feel toward us, but God says,

Rom 12:17, Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

Christ is Our Peace

God has enabled the believer to experience peace regardless of the outward circumstances. Peace is a gift from God through our relationship with Christ. Jesus said to His troubled disciples,

John 14:27, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Christ is our peace. When you have Him you have peace.

Eph 2:13, But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. 14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: 17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

Focus your attention on the Lord rather than on your circumstances. The more you focus on your problems the larger and more insurmountable they seem. God promises to keep in perfect peace those whose minds are fixed on Him and believing in Him.

Isa 26:3, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Perfect peace, unruffled and undisturbed, is sufficient for every circumstance. God is engineering everything for your good.

Rom 8:28, And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

He will supply all your needs.

Phil 4:19, But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

He will enable you to do whatever is required.

Phil 4:13, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Our minds are fixed on Him through meditation upon His Word. Here is where we discover the ways of God.

Psa 119:165, Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

Pray about Problems

Phil 4:6, Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Take your problem to the Lord in prayer. He encourages us not to allow anxiety to overtake us, but rather to bring our troubles to Him in the spirit of prayer and thanksgiving. The promised result is peace, which surpasses understanding and protects us from the harassment of circumstances.

We are to bring problems to God, even though He already knows all about us. The request is a confession of our dependence upon Him and our faith in Him. It is an act of humility that God honors. Why should we come "with thanksgiving" when we are trying to escape our problems? The spirit of thanksgiving is an indication that we believe God knows best and are confident that He will see us through our difficulties and restore our peace.

Psalm 29:11, The LORD will bless His people with peace.

Isa 9:6, For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Isa 9:7, Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Isa 52:7, How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

Isa 53:5, But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Rom 5:1, Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Col 1:19, For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

Col 1:20, And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
