GOD's LOVE
TIT 3:4-6, "But when the kindness of God our Savior and {His} love for
mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in
righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by
the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,"
- GOD LOVES US MORE THAN WE LOVE OURSELVES
- HIS LOVE IS UNCONDITIONAL - HE LOVES US - NOT JUST THE THINGS WE DO
- IF SOMEONE LOVES US "WHEN WE PLEASE THEM, THEY DON'T LOVE US, THEY JUST LOVE WHAT
WE CAN DO FOR THEM
UNCONDITIONAL LOVE:
ROM 8:35, "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall
tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
- God doesn't love us just because of our position in life, popularity, or possessions.
DEU 7:7, "The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you
were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples,"
ROM 8:36, "Just as it is written, "For Thy sake we are being put to
death all day long; We were considered as sheep to be slaughtered. 37 But in all
these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am
convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things
present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other
created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus
our Lord."
- DEATH - FEAR OF UNCOMPLETED WORK
- LIFE - FEAR OF FAILURE
- ANGELS - FEAR OF EVIL
- PRINCIPALITIES - FEAR OF LUST AND TEMPTATION
1 JOHN 2:16, "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the
lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the
world."
- THINGS PRESENT - PRESENT PROBLEMS
- THINGS TO COME - FUTURE PROBLEMS
LUK 22:31-32, "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift
you like wheat; but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when
once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers."
- POWERS - WORKS OF THE FLESH
- HEIGHT - HIGH POSITION IN LIFE
- DEPTH - LOW POSITION IN LIFE
- ANY OTHER CREATED THING - EVERYTHING WAS CREATED,
- SO NOTHING CAN SEPARATE US FROM GOD'S LOVE.
- HE GAVE HIS LIFE FOR US WHILE WE WERE SINNERS
ROM 5:6-8, "For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ
died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the
good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in
that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
- HIS LOVE DOES NOT DEPEND ON OUR WORKS
EPH 2:4, "But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with
which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive
together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up with Him,
and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in
the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in
Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, that no one should
boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which
God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."
- IF WE DON'T UNDERSTAND UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, WE DON'T
UNDERSTAND GOD
1 JOHN 4:7, "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and
everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 The one who does not love does
not know God, for God is love... 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to
love one another. 12 No one has beheld God at any time; if we love one another, God
abides in us, and His love is perfected in us. 13 By this we know that we abide in
Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit...16 And we have come to
know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides
in love abides in God, and God abides in him."
- MARRIAGE WAS USED AS AN EXAMPLE
EPH 5:25-27, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the
church and gave Himself up for her; that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the
washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her
glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she should be holy and
blameless."
- IF WE LOVE 'THINGS' FIRST, WE DON'T UNDERSTAND GOD'S LOVE
1 JOHN 2:15, "Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If
anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in
the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life,
is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away,
and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God abides forever."
- GOD WANTS US TO HAVE HIS LOVE FOR EACH OTHER
JOHN 15:12, "This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I
have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life
for his friends. 14 You are My friends, if you do what I command you."
- WHAT WE SEEK AFTER SHOWS WHAT WE LOVE
GAL 2:20, "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who
live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith
in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me."
