POWER IN THE BLOOD
ACT 1:8, "but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and
you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the
remotest part of the earth." 1 COR 2:4-5, "And my message and my preaching were
not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that
your faith should not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God."
DO YOU WANT POWER?
THE SPIRIT DOES NOT HAVE THE POWER TO SAVE
1 PE 1:17, "And if you address as Father the One who impartially judges according
to each man's work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay {upon earth};
18 knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your
futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, 19 but with precious blood, as of a
lamb unblemished and spotless, {the blood} of Christ."
- POWER OR EMOTION WITHOUT DIRECTION IS USELESS AT BEST THROUGH FORGIVENESS, THE BLOOD
OFFERS UNION WITH GOD AND THE BODY OF CHRIST
- WE HAVE MUCH MORE POWER WHEN WE WORK TOGETHER WITH GOD AND OTHER CHRISTIANS
REV 7:13, "And one of the elders answered, saying to me, "These who are
clothed in the white robes, who are they, and from where have they come?" 14 And I
said to him, "My lord, you know." And he said to me, "These are the ones
who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them
white in the blood of the Lamb."
HEB 9:13, "For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer
sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh, 14 how
much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without
blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 15 And
for this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, in order that since a death has
taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were {committed} under the first
covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
16 For where a covenant is, there must of necessity be the death of the one who made it.
17 For a covenant is valid {only} when men are dead, for it is never in force while the
one who made it lives. 18 Therefore even the first {covenant} was not inaugurated without
blood."
BLOOD FOR FORGIVENESS
MAT 26:27, "And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them,
saying, "Drink from it, all of you; 28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is
poured out for many for forgiveness of sins."
WE OVERCOME BECAUSE WE LIVE A FORGIVEN LIFE
REV 12:11, "And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of
the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even to death."
WALLS BROKEN DOWN BY BLOOD
EPH 2:13, "But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been
brought near by the blood of Christ." POWER IN WEAKNESS
2 COR 12:9, "And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for
power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my
weaknesses, that the power of Christ may dwell in me."
RECONCILED TO GOD THROUGH JESUS' BLOOD PEACE THROUGH BLOOD
COL 1:19, "For it was the {Father's} good pleasure for all the fulness to dwell
in Him, 20 and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through
the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.
21 And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, 22
yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you
before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach".
BLOOD PROTECTS FROM GOD'S WRATH
EXO 12:13, "And the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live;
and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy
{you} when I strike the land of Egypt."
THE NEW BIRTH COMES THROUGH FORGIVENESS
- WE NEED TO CONTINUE TO LIVE THAT WAY BY ACCEPTING AND GIVING FORGIVENESS
JOH 6:53, "Jesus therefore said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless
you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves.
54 "He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him
up on the last day. 55 "For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. 56
"He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. 57 "As the
living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also shall
live because of Me. 58 "This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the
fathers ate, and died, he who eats this bread shall live forever."
The great English preacher Charles Spurgeon told of a man who had been sentenced to
death by a Spanish court. Because he was an American citizen but also of English birth,
the consuls of both countries decided to intervene. They declared that the authorities of
Spain had no right to take his life, but their protests went unheeded. Finally, they
deliberately wrapped the prisoner in their flags - the Stars and Stripes and the Union
Jack. Defying the executioner, they issued this warning: "Fire if you dare! But if
you do, you will bring the powers of two great nations upon you!" There stood the
condemned. But the rifleman would not shoot. Protected by those flags and the governments
they represented, the man was invulnerable.
