SCENE: Phil on stage dancing & humming, Della enters.
Della: Phil. (Phil doesn't hear her) Phil.
Phil: What?
Della: What are you acting silly for?
Phil: I was humming a new rock song.
Della: Why?
Phil: Because I like it.
Della: You know, Phil, lately you've been acting very
strangely.
Phil: Why do you say that?
Della: Because you go around acting silly everywhere.
Phil: So what?
Della: So, you're acting awful. You don't have any table
manners, you are sloppy, and lazy.
Phil: That's the "in" thing.
Della: What do you mean the "in" thing?
Phil: I mean everyone listens to rock. No one actually cares
about manners or neatness anymore, either.
Della: It's not good to do things just because everyone else
does, Phil.
Phil: Why not?
Della: Because, just think what the world would be like if
everyone tried to act like one person.
Phil: I don't get it.
Della: Everyone is unique because they are each - one of a
kind. But if everyone was acting the same, they wouldn't really be unique. People are also
unique because they have their own way of doing things.
Phil: Oh! I see what you mean.
Della: That's good - because I don't know how much more of
"silly Phil" I can take.
Phil: But what about everyone else? They will still act like
that.
Della: Well - most will see it's ridiculous. Others might
need just a few words from you. But if they still don't care, don't worry, one person
can't control everyone's lives anyway.
Phil: OK.
