SCENE: Phil and Grandma on stage
Phil: What have you been doing, Grandma?
Gra'ma: I was baking some cookies.
Phil: May I have one? Your cookies are always so big they are
bigger than my hands.
Gra'ma: Yes, they are bigger than your hands, but you have
always managed to eat them.
Phil: Thanks, Grandma. Hands are pretty important aren't
they? We can hold big cookies with them. Of course I will use both hands to hold those
cookies.
Gra'ma: Yes, the human hands ar a wonderful part of the body.
Did you know a great actor can convey a message just by the use of his hands, and an
artist can use a brush to paint a beautiful picture. Also a magician can entertain great
audiences with the quickness of his hands, and even a surgeon's hands can help bring
relief to the suffering.
Phil: Wow, but I don't know how to do any of those things,
Grandma.
Gra'ma: Well, maybe we can't do those things, but we can use
our hands for the glory of the Lord.
Phil: How's that?
Gra'ma: Well, like Moses for instance. He used just an
ordinary shepherd's rod to show Pharoah the power of the living God. Similarly, God can
make the ordinary thing that we have in our hands into a blessing if there's a willingness
to dedicate it to Him in full commitment.
Phil: Grandma, could I take some big cookies, like you just
made, over to my sick friend, Marsha?
Gra'ma: Sure honey, take several with you, she'll love them.
Phil: Thanks, Grandma.
Gra'ma: Anytime. You know, Phil, hands that serve and help
people are the most beautiful of all.
